About The artist and his vision
Old God Compass
OGC is a pen and ink piece created on aged paper which gives a type yellowish tint, demonstrates the technique of different shades and tones using only ink. Variations of different strengths of lines and shapes, exhibits the massive amount of detail that has been produced by Bober. This large piece (original 18"x24") of work focuses on the sun with intense detail surrounded by a boarder like of many small images and symbols that reveal mixed messages of current/past beauty, nature, fear, love, hate, entertainment, greed, medicine, technology, religion, politics, and so forth that surrounds us, which majority should be interpreted by the viewer. The alphabetical symbols for East, North, South, and West have been created out on iconic major cities of the United States. There are some familiar symbols of zodiac that represents each and every one of us as well as astrological symbols of the planetary system that we live in.
Like most artist with a unique style, Greg's ability to put thought into prospective is the aspect of his design capability. Whether creating highly complex ink work as in the example of "Old God", he also enjoys creating more colorful pieces using in most cases a signature color pallet in small and large scale that brighten any indoor or outdoor living space. For commission works he puts in the time to understand the customers vision and creates a small scale example of that vision for the customer's approval prior to execute the creation of the final larger or smaller scale piece that is requested.
From simple designs to more complex, Greg's ability to work with multi media from traditional craft to digital enables him to provide a vast array of designs and works that capture the aspect of the message that was meant to be displayed through visual definition of his unique style. As seen in the "Old God" work, there are no short cuts in creating something meaningful that is unique and 100% original .
Greg's creative abilities allow him to not only use brushes and pens, but he also has an eye for capturing beautiful moments of images through the use of photography. Photographs which are captured in the right moment within natural lighting majority of the time that particular moment will never be recreated due to it's natural component. The natural memory of that split second captured through a lens is one that is timeless and therefore most appreciated.
